Finally...Babies at our house!!

So we finally have babies at our house. Not human, but babies still!

Here are some pictures of the Dove babies that hatched this weekend. I didn't know they could grow this fast!
I took all of these except the last one from inside the house. I had to stand on a dinning room chair to get the shots. What caught my eye is this morning was the first time I haven't seen an adult bird in the nest.

Mom feeding.

She heard me and stopped feeding for a moment.

I took this one outside, I thought it was very artsy due to mom and baby looking in the same direction.

whooooosh

That's what's been happening to the time lately. Few highlights of what has happened since I last posted.

Larry and I did not end up eating at a restaurant downtown for our anniversary. Instead he surprised me with a party! I had absolutely no clue!! He had been sneaking around planning things and working on projects with my mom for over 2 weeks!! We are super bad a keeping ANYTHING from each other, that's why I am still impressed.

The same day as the party I finally got up to look at the nest a dove had been making in my hanging plant on the back deck. I was able to see one egg. And Larry got to look in it a few days later and saw two. I looked up online they have a 3 week incubation so this weekend or early next week we should have babies! That brave mom has hunkered down through some pretty frightening weather (even with last night's horrible hail storm) a few times now and never left her post. Even with that basket blowing back and forth! What a fabulous mother!!!

Last weekend we enjoyed a night out with some of Larry's cousins to celebrate their upcoming wedding on April 26th. It was a group of 8, and we didn't do anything big but have dinner and play pool (not all part or our original plans), but we all agreed it ended up being a really fun night!

Other than that, I've just been trying to work a little and keep up with Holly and everything going on at her school. She's actually home today. Last night dinner didn't sit well with her due to many various reasons, and at about 4am she finally got rid of it. She's feeling fine now and enjoyed a healthy breakfast, but due to school and health rules, I kept her home today. Thankfully it's the end of the 6 weeks and she's only missing a half day, so it's really not a big deal.

There's some other stuff going on, but I don't care to air it out on here. It's family stuff we face every year around this time. You would think I would be use to it and handle it better, but I'm a mom and I don't think I'll ever handle it well!
